Nicki Minaj has drawn a sharp public rebuke from Child's Play creator Don Mancini after sharing an AI-generated image of Chucky wearing a 'Vote Red' badge. The filmmaker rejected the political portrayal, branding the character an 'IMPOSTER' and declaring that the killer doll belongs to the 'BLUE WAVE'.
The rapper shared the image on 3 November, US Election Day, alongside the message 'HAPPY ELECTION DAY!!!'. It portrayed the horror character in a pink suit with a badge signalling support for the Republican Party. Mancini responded the following day, making it clear that he did not agree with the political message attached to his creation.
Minaj's Election Day Post
Minaj's image showed Chucky in a pink suit, wearing a badge that read 'Vote Red'. The post came amid her increasingly vocal alignment with President Donald Trump and his political movement, making her decision to portray the horror character as a Republican supporter particularly notable.

Mancini, who created the murderous doll for the 1988 horror film Child's Play, responded directly to Minaj's post on X on 4 November.
Chucky has a trans kid. Chucky protects the dolls. Chucky is anti-ICE. Chucky says “A BLUE WAVE is coming, as BLUE as my fuckin’ eyes!” pic.twitter.com/rQIS6sErCh

'IMPOSTER. CHUCKY IS PART OF THE BLUE WAVE THAT WILL WASH AWAY ALL THE CORRUPTION,' he wrote.
In US politics, blue is associated with the Democratic Party, while red is associated with the Republicans. Mancini's response therefore rejected the political identity Minaj had given the character and placed Chucky firmly on the other side of the political divide.
Chucky's LGBTQ+ Connections
Mancini followed up with a separate post highlighting the character's connections to LGBTQ+ representation and his opposition to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
'Chucky has a trans kid. Chucky protects the dolls. Chucky is anti-ICE. Chucky says "A BLUE WAVE is coming, as BLUE as my fuckin' eyes!"'
The reference to Chucky's child is rooted in the franchise's established storyline. Glen/Glenda was introduced in the 2004 film Seed of Chucky, which explored themes of gender identity through the killer doll's offspring.
The character's identity was also addressed in the Chucky television series. In its second episode, Chucky tells teenage protagonist Jake: 'You know, I have a queer kid.'
When Jake asks whether he is comfortable with it, Chucky replies: 'I'm not a monster, Jake.' The character subsequently describes the child as genderfluid.
Mancini's Blue-Haired Chucky
Mancini continued his response by sharing a photograph of a Chucky doll with blue hair, rather than the character's trademark red locks. He captioned the image: 'Too bad, Nicki! No AI, by the way! #bluewave.'
The photograph offered a pointed contrast to Minaj's AI-generated portrayal, while the blue hair echoed Mancini's earlier reference to the Democrats' 'blue wave'.
His comments also took on added political significance as the results of the 2026 US midterm elections emerged. Democrats won control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate, dealing a setback to Trump and the Republican Party.
The exchange also highlights how characters created for entertainment can become unexpected symbols in wider political and cultural debates.
Minaj's Previous Chucky Post
This was not the first time Minaj had brought Chucky into her political commentary. In January, she shared an image of the horror character while attacking journalist Don Lemon over his coverage of an anti-ICE protest at a church in St Paul, Minnesota.
Her latest post once again placed the fictional killer doll in the middle of a political dispute, this time prompting a direct response from the person who created him.
