A devoted daughter has appealed to Rockstar Games for early access to Grand Theft Auto VI for her terminally ill father, who reportedly bought a PlayStation 5 specifically to play the highly anticipated game.
According to her Reddit post, the longtime gaming enthusiast has been diagnosed with stage-four lung cancer and is receiving hospice care, with only a few weeks left to live. Hoping to fulfil her father's final wish, she shared his story online in an attempt to reach the developer before the game's scheduled 19 November release.
Seeking Early Access From Rockstar
A Reddit post shared by a concerned daughter has prompted members of the gaming community to try to help her reach Rockstar Games over her father's wish to play Grand Theft Auto VI early.

He even bought a new PS5 just to play it, but he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer with predicted weeks to live:

Some terminally ill fans who may not live until its release have previously sought early access to the game. In January, Ubisoft Toronto employee Anthony Armstrong appealed to Rockstar on behalf of a terminally ill family member who wanted to experience GTA 6 before launch. Armstrong later said Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick had contacted him and that the family had received 'great news', although the precise arrangement was not publicly disclosed.
Now, another daughter has turned to Reddit to share her father's story and appeal for a chance for him to experience the game.
A Longtime Fan's Final Wish
In a Reddit post that has since been removed, user u/lexakommurry said her father is a huge fan of the GTA franchise, has spent thousands of hours playing previous games and bought a PS5 specifically so he could play Grand Theft Auto VI.
According to his daughter, he has been diagnosed with stage-four lung cancer and has returned home on hospice care, with only a few weeks left to live. She said she wanted to find a way for him to play the game before he dies.
She also offered to provide Rockstar with whatever documentation it might need, writing: 'We'd gladly provide proof of his hourly commitment, his diagnosis, and sign an NDA or any other legal paperwork needed.'
She added: 'He's a wonderful man and has been a great dad. I would love to let him have access to something he's looked forward to for years before he goes.'
Community Support and Hope
Several Reddit users responded by offering words of encouragement and directing the daughter towards Rockstar's press contact. One commenter wrote: 'I hope this gets seen by Rockstar and your dad gets to play,' while another said: 'I remember Rockstar did something similar for a kid. May God bless your dad.'
Rockstar had not publicly responded to the appeal as of publication.
The case follows a similar appeal earlier this year involving a terminally ill GTA fan. In that instance, Armstrong said he had received 'great news' after speaking with Take-Two and Rockstar, although the details of what was arranged were not made public.
For now, members of the gaming community are hoping the latest appeal reaches Rockstar before Grand Theft Auto VI's scheduled 19 November release.
