Claims are now open in Apple's proposed $250 million Siri class-action settlement for U.S. residents and businesses that bought an eligible iPhone in the United States between 10 June 2024 and 29 March 2025. Valid claimants would receive a presumptive $25 per eligible device, subject to a pro rata adjustment that could raise the payment to as much as $95 or reduce it if claims exceed the available net fund.
Claimants must also confirm that, when they bought the device, they expected to receive a Siri Apple Intelligence feature that they did not receive. Claims opened on 21 September 2026, and must be submitted online or postmarked by 21 December.
The case, Landsheft, et al. v. Apple Inc., alleges that Apple's marketing led buyers to expect certain Siri Apple Intelligence features that were not delivered on the expected timetable. Apple denies the allegations and wrongdoing. U.S. District Judge Noël Wise granted preliminary approval on 17 July 2026, but the settlement still requires final approval.
Who Qualifies for the Apple Siri Settlement?
The settlement covers U.S. residents who originally purchased an eligible iPhone in the United States for personal or business use, but not for resale, during the class period.
The seven eligible models are the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are not included.
Buyers outside the United States are not included, even if they own one of the same models. Eligible claimants must also certify that they expected a Siri Apple Intelligence feature at the time of purchase and did not receive it.
How Much Could iPhone Owners Receive?
The settlement provides a presumptive payment of $25 for each eligible device covered by a valid claim.
The final amount is not guaranteed. If valid claims total less than the net settlement fund, payments can increase proportionally up to a maximum of $95 per device. If claims exceed the available fund, the payment can fall below $25.
Apple agreed to a total settlement amount of $250 million. Notice and administration costs, taxes, court-approved attorneys' fees and expenses, and any approved service awards will be deducted before distribution.
How to File an Apple Siri Settlement Claim
Claims can be filed through the official Smartphone AI Settlement process by 21 December 2026.
The claim form requires current contact information and enough information to confirm the eligible purchase. The settlement agreement lists a device serial number, Apple Account ID or phone number associated with the iPhone as examples.
Claimants must certify that the phone was purchased in the United States during the class period and that they expected a Siri Apple Intelligence feature they did not receive. Individuals claiming more than one eligible device must submit a separate form for each device.
Approved claimants can choose a mailed check or digital payment. Class members who do nothing will receive no payment and, unless they opt out by 21 December, will remain bound by the settlement and its release of covered claims.
Why Apple Faced a Lawsuit Over Siri
Apple introduced Apple Intelligence at WWDC on June 10, 2024, previewing Siri capabilities involving personal context, onscreen awareness and actions within and across apps.
In March 2025, Apple acknowledged that its more personalised Siri features were taking longer than expected and said it anticipated rolling them out 'in the coming year.'
Apple's marketing also drew scrutiny from the National Advertising Division. On 22 April 2025, NAD said Apple's unqualified 'Available Now' claim could reasonably suggest that all listed Apple Intelligence features were available at the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro launch, although several arrived later.
NAD also considered claims about Siri's onscreen awareness, personal context and cross-app actions. Apple said those features would not arrive on the original timeline and had updated its promotional materials. NAD did not reach the merits of those Siri claims and treated the discontinued claims as though it had recommended they be discontinued.
Apple introduced Siri AI at WWDC26 on 8 June 2026. It began rolling out in beta in English on 14 September as part of Apple's 2027 software releases.
When Will Settlement Payments Arrive?
Submitting a claim does not trigger an immediate payment. Judge Wise has scheduled the final approval hearing for 24 February 2027, at 9 a.m. at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California's San Jose courthouse.
If the court grants final approval, appeals could still delay the settlement's effective date. The agreement says valid payments are to be transmitted within 60 days after the effective date, or as soon as practicable thereafter.
For potential claimants, the immediate deadline is 21 December 2026. The settlement website says the hearing date and time can change, so class members should check the official site for updates.
