Derbyshire Police have roasted a jailed driver with a Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6)-themed video after Jack Vickrage was sentenced to 14 months in prison for dangerous driving and related offences.

Published on TikTok on 3 November, the video turns his prison sentence into a joke about missing the highly anticipated game's release.

Vickrage, 28, pleaded guilty to the offences and was sentenced at Derby Crown Court on 27 October, Derbyshire Constabulary confirmed.

The force's video draws on the franchise's familiar graphics and music, but the pursuit behind the joke took place on real roads in Ripley, Derbyshire, where other motorists and pedestrians were exposed to danger.

Derbyshire Police Give a Dangerous Car Chase the GTA 6 Treatment

The video uses a GTA 6-inspired interface, including a wanted-level display and minimap, alongside the track 'Flower in a Hurricane'. The editing makes the pursuit resemble a sequence from the fictional crime series, although the footage shows an actual police operation.

'Could've just waited a few more weeks for GTA 6 to drop... now Jack's in prison for release day,' the force wrote in the caption, as reported by Dexerto.

The caption also warned viewers against treating dangerous driving as a game. 'Nothing excuses driving like this in real life,' the force wrote, referencing the fictional streets of Vice City as the place for such behaviour.

The joke contrasts GTA's fictional chaos with the real dangers of reckless driving. On 17 July, officers spotted Vickrage's van on Nottingham Road in Ripley and signalled him to stop, but he fled, cutting a corner before reversing into gates and fencing at a dead end on Stenson Court.

Police said Vickrage then appeared to drive towards a police car blocking the van. He denied deliberately trying to ram the vehicle, saying he had been attempting to get past it.

GTA 6 Joke Follows a 14-Month Prison Sentence

Vickrage tested positive for cannabis after his arrest, and officers found the drug inside the van. During a police interview, he admitted the offences and said he had panicked and was trying to get himself out of the situation.

The offending did not end with the July pursuit. While on bail, Vickrage was stopped again while driving through Horsley Woodhouse, where officers found more cannabis in his vehicle.

He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, drug-driving and two counts of cannabis possession. Derby Crown Court sentenced him to 14 months in prison and imposed a two-year driving ban on 27 October.

Police Constable Kyle Lambert, of the Ripley Safer Neighbourhood Team, said Vickrage showed 'no regard for the safety of others', noting that the chase endangered motorists and pedestrians.

The TikTok video also drew comments from gaming fans, with some questioning its five-star wanted-level display and one joking, 'Give admin early access'.

Rockstar Games was also tagged in the comments, although there is no evidence in the available reporting that the developer was involved in producing or approving the police video.

The post follows a wider trend of law enforcement agencies drawing on popular games and internet culture to present arrest footage on social media. Such references can make police posts more recognisable to online audiences, but the underlying cases still demand accurate reporting and a clear distinction between a joke and the conduct that led to an arrest.

In Vickrage's case, the force's punchline centres on the timing of his sentence. Whether he will actually remain in custody when GTA 6 launches has not been independently established, but the police video makes clear what the joke is intended to convey.
